red and white

It's just a coincidence

that I post a mani in red and white today..

(these are national colours of Poland)

Cause as I have written before I'm not a big patriot..

however..

I want you to know that today

is the 1st anniversary of the plane crush,

in which our president, his wife and 94 other people got killed..

(They were en route from Warsaw to attend an event marking the 70th anniversary of the Katyn massacre*)

*Katyn massacre was a mass execution of Polish nationals carried out by the Soviet secret police NKVD in April–May 1940.

November 11th inspired mani

November 11th is National Independence Day in Poland.

It is celebrated to commemorate the anniversary of Poland's assumption of independent statehood in 1918 after 123 years of partitions by Austria-Hungary, Prussia, and Russia.

(Poland wasn’t on maps for 123 years!)

It was also official end of World War I.

We don’t work on that day J

I’m not a big patriot, but I respect the history of Poland.

It’s very beautiful and sad…

All Saints' Day

Here are some photos I took yesterday.

Now you can see how beautiful cementaries look in Poland on November 1st.

Unfortunately, i didn't manage to take photos in the evening..

What does it look like?

Halloween

Happy Halloween!!!

Although we don't celebrate Halloween in Poland, I think it must be a real fun!

I decided to do a mani related to this holiday :)

Instead of Halloween we've got All Saints' Day (November 1st) and All Souls' Day (November 2nd - that is also my boyfriend's birthday :D).

Since our official religion is Catholicism, All Saints' Day is also our national holiday = it means that it's free of work!

On that day we visit graves of our relatives and friends and light candles, leave flowers and pray for their souls. Cementaries look beautiful on that holiday, especially in the evening!
